Play Room Tour

Having space for a playroom is every mom’s saving grace. We love having a bonus room above the garage to accommodate a large space for our kids, cousins, and friends to play in! I have to be honest though, this room is quite large and I felt really overwhelmed when deciding how to make it look cute, functional and not always a cozy bomb of a mess.

We started off by building a massive bench/window seat, which not only is great for cuddling up and watching a movie on, but also provides tons of space for storage too! When planning this room, I first fell in love with the hand-painted buffalo check fabric by Caitlin Wilson. It’s so playful! I had my friends at Q Design Centre make it into roman shades to fit the two windows (each opposite from one another). I added in some of Caitlin’s floral and striped pillows to give a neutral feeling to this space.

Just when I thought I was done with this room, I really felt like something was missing. Like I mentioned, it is quite a large space with lots of bare walls. Since I’m such a huge fan of wallpaper, I thought this might be the missing piece to the playroom. And, again, I’m back on Caitlin Wilson’s site, remembering her adorable cityscape wallpaper. Not only is it a perfect fit for our color scheme and the rest of the existing Caitlin Wilson collection pieces, but it also just worked perfectly in this kid’s playroom. I absolutely love the way it turned out!
