Bungalow Summer Evenings

Bungalow 1, 2, 3!! We’re slowing (but surely!) getting our new little rental move-in-ready! If you haven’t heard over on my Instagram yet, we sold our house last December and move out in just a few days! (Yes a very sad day, but lots to be excited about our future building plans!) So yes, we will be building again. In the meantime, we decided to rent a little house right in Fort Langley! We are calling it our little “Fort Langley Beach (beach well… even though there’s no beach- ha!)... Bungalow!” The house is quite old but has a lot of fun character! It just needed a little bit of love and a fresh coat of paint (or two). I’m loving how it’s becoming our little home for the time being.

There is still so much summer to enjoy and we really wanted to make the back porch inviting and livable. We also sold most of our furniture with the last house, so we don’t really have any furniture going into the rental. While we start to think about furnishing again, I thought why not focus on the outdoor space first? We love being outside, and the weather has been so amazing so we’ve been spending most of our time outdoors anyway.

A quick little cosmetic reno on the back deck is exactly what we did…

We painted the deck a fresh coat of white, added some new outdoor pieces and finished those beach vibes with some amazing outdoor accessories from Rejuvenation. Does anyone else love Rejuvenation? I first fell in love with their lighting when we were building our last house. I knew they had some great outdoor lights that would be perfect for this little outdoor deck. It’s amazing how incorporating an outdoor wall sconce or fixture can add some much character to your outdoor space.

Also, how perfect is that striped doormat? I love how thick it is and adds that extra bit of interest and detail as well!

I added these gorgeous wall sconces to add light as well as bring that little bit of beach charm. As you probably know by now, I love the coastal charm and these brought just that the deck. They come in both medium and large sizes to perfectly fit any area. It was so hard to choose as they have such a great selection of sconces.

Okay, let’s talk about these house numbers! They were just a FUN element in our outdoor space. No, 1 2 3 is not our address. It is, however, the cutest little idea for inviting friends and family up the stairs into our little patio. The kids loved the idea of the number on each step and made up games and personalized their favorite number and step. If the modern brass is not quite your style, Rejuvenation also has some beautiful traditional black ones that would look perfect to complete a classic look.

I also adore string lights in the summer! They add light and ambiance to your outdoor area. The ones we hung are so pretty with the perfect gold dipped detail on them. The kids were so excited when we hung them — twinkling lights everywhere! What’s not to love? Rejuvenation has such a great selection and we love these cute little farmhouse details on their cargo string lights, I know we will be using ours for many summers to come. We have rounded up some more of our favorites below.

Let’s not forget about my favorite garden flower: hydrangeas! We had soooo many hydrangeas at our previous home, so I knew I wanted to have some blooming in our back deck too. I planted them in these large planters and placed them on the outside corners of the deck, I love how sturdy these planters are and the wood detailing on them. Just the perfect amount! There are lots of planters to choose from ranging from terracotta to stone to oxidized tin. Choices, choices, choices!

Isn’t that gold dipped bulb on the string lights perfect? They are even prettier in real life!

So far our little bungalow is looking great! I love that we started with our outdoor area. Only a few months left to enjoy these outdoor days before the rain arrives again on the west coast! Till then, we’re going to enjoy these gorgeous warm summer days in our new favorite space!

Thank you Rejuvenation for sponsoring this post!
