My Favourite Detox Smoothies

Who doesn’t love a healthy breakfast smoothie to start off the day?  What better way to get going this January than a healthy start with smoothies packed with vitamins and goodness! They’re versatile, nourishing, and always popular with my little ones. I always think I’m winning the day when my kids drink their entire smoothie first thing in the morning alongside their breakfast.

In order to throw together a yummy, healthy smoothie in a pinch, I always keep my freezer stocked with berries (we love strawberries), pineapple, spinach or kale, and bananas. (Once they’re super ripe, I peel them, pop them in a freezer bag or container, and stash them until we need them.) If I have extra time I’ll also portion out all the ingredients into ziplock baggies for busy mornings in the future.

I’ve rounded up three of my favorite combinations with three very different flavors.

Strawberry Burst Smoothie: Super refreshing with lots of flavors.
Strawberries + Raspberries + Peaches + Banana + Hemp seeds + Lemon juice + Almond milk + Coconut water.

Oh-So-Green Smoothie: Rejuvenating and packed with nutrition + goodness.
K ale/spinach +  Apple +  Banana + Mango or Pineapple + Cucumber + Almond milk + Coconut water +  Chia seeds.

Tropical Smoothie: Tastes like a dose of sunshine, like a delicious Piña Colada!
Pineapple + Mango + Banana + Flaked coconut +  Hemp hearts or vanilla protein powder + Coconut milk + Coconut water.

No matter which smoothie I’m making, I simply pop everything into my Blendtec blender  (So many of you have been asking about it and yes it’s amazing and worth the splurge) and blend it on high for about a minute. It’s possible you may need a little more liquid. I’ll add more almond milk or coconut water.  (Also, if you’re serious about smoothie making, you ought to find a good high-powered blender. Our Blendtec is used daily!) I love adding protein powders. We keep hearing great things about  Tone It Up Plant-Based Protein Powder in Vanilla. My personal favorite add-in is a scoop of withinUS Tru Marine Collagen to finish it off!
