Transforming Blake’s Nursery with Shiplap

After we posted photos of Blake’s nursery —  well, even before we published the actual post — we received many comments on the shiplap! It seems like you loved the look in the space. We did too!

Honestly, it completely transformed the room, bringing in that perfect coastal vibe I love. The finished look was even better than what I expected!

As we already had some shiplap in the home (in the mudroom , above our fireplace and the masterbath), I was a little hesitant to add it into the room since there was already a beautiful wallpapered wall. But then we were introduced to this amazing Complete Pre-Painted Shiplap from Metire. It’s a dream to work with since its pre-painted! Once its up, it’s done.  No need to go over it with two to three coats of paint! A perfect product in my eyes.

If you like to take on DIY projects, then I would say that this product is for you. You will need some knowledge of working with tools, like a nail gun and a table saw. Even if power tools aren’t your cup of tea,  ask around to family and friends as there is probably someone you know that would be able to help out with this project.

Blake’s nursery was a bit more complicated in some sections.  The room has a bench seat, wall sconces, moldings and tight corners that made some of the cuts trickier than others. Ultimately, we decided to hire a carpenter to come and install it as we were running out of time with Blake’s imminent arrival.

This shiplap is also on the more economical side than traditional shiplap! You can often do a nice feature wall in your home for minimal budget and about 1 day of labor with help from friends and family. I am happy to report that even our managing director, Erin, and her husband were able to put up a feature wall in their bedroom in under a day!

If you are on the fence about adding shiplap into your space, I say just do it. It transforms spaces. I highly recommend the Metrie’s pre-painted complete shiplap.
