Valentine’s Day Brunch

Valentine’s Day can be the perfect little pick me up after a busy Christmas season and a long January! It’s a great time to celebrate love, friendships and family!  It’s also a fun time to decorate your home with feminine, flirty decor and endless fresh florals!

This year for Valentine’s day I partnered with Mosaic Homes to decorate a 4 bedroom model home at Kitchner, their new community in South Surrey, and host some amazing girls for a Valentine’s brunch! I can’t begin to tell you just how much fun it was to decorate their beautiful home! The large, open concept floor plans with the 10-foot ceilings make the space open, airy and perfect for entertaining!

I’m always up for a fun hang out with my girlfriends and Valentine’s Day is the perfect time to celebrate friendships! What better way to do that than with a brunch?! Hosting a brunch can be extra special and inexpensive. Create a beautiful tablescape and spread of food that won’t be forgotten. Ask your friends to come dressed up for a special Valentine’s Day gathering, color coordinated outfits are welcome, too – why not right? That’s exactly what we did!

You don’t have to get caught up with expensive red roses, too. Try soft hues of whimsical florals that will soften and bring a delicate romantic feel to any room! Even a few bud vases are the perfect touch.

With the help of the MH team and my favourite local vendors, we created a relaxed, fun afternoon filled with yummy brunch foods, a DIY floral shop/workshop, which welcomed lots of chit-chat and good laughs.

Why not include pink or red for the occasion? A few hearts here and there. Marble or wood carved ones are perfect! Little treat bowls filled with red, white and pink candy add a sweet touch! Adding in a single bloom can add such a romantic feeling to your space!

I have such a love for flowers. So I thought it would be fun to set up a little floral workshop in the nook space of their Kitchner rowhome for the girls. I called up the lovely Alice of Floralista and asked if she would like to set up a floral workshop and teach us how to make a quick, easy arrangement for Valentine’s Day.

We added in frozen floral and heart ice cubes too! Add in extra little touches like handwritten menus and place cards, or even send out a quick invitation in the mail! All these little touches make such a big thoughtful impact.

I LOVE a delicious brunch, especially when it’s healthy! Why not try substituting for gluten or vegan options? It’s so easy to make a healthy brunch with your favourite brunch foods.  Erin, our food editor,  made such an amazing assortment of delicious brunch items. All healthy choices, with some gluten-free and vegan options, too! Gluten-free vegan waffles with coconut whipped cream and fresh citrus, quiche, focaccia bread with roasted veggies and vegan mayo. Is your mouth watering yet? I’ve included all these amazing recipes below for each of you to print out – not to mention the cutest recipe cards too!

For hosting a brunch, you can either have everyone seated or just have a casual buffet style brunch set up on your kitchen island/dining room table. The large kitchen island in the Kitchner home made it easy for us create an amazing buffet of healthy brunch foods!

Our girlfriends from The Habit Juice Project came to share their love for juicing and why we should be drinking local fresh pressed juice! They even made a yummy detox floral cocktail for our brunch. The green Emerald juice is my absolute favourite.

If you are looking for a great gift idea for your girlfriends, Starbucks gave our guests these adorable Valentine’s Day mugs that are sure to be a hit at your personal Galentine’s event. Perfect with a side of sprinkle toast. We used vegan butter to cancel out the sprinkles. Hehe.
